Guest post! 5 Simple steps to achieving your fitness goals!

I recently reached out to a friend of mine who consistently makes being healthy and active a priority.  I have always admired Nicole’s dedication and wanted to hear what she does to stay fit.  Here are her tips on how she stays focused and motivated:

5 Simple steps to achieving your fitness goals!

1. Make it doable: Being a mom of a 5 and 2 year old is a challenge in itself and trying to fit in a workout is another challenge but I make it happen. What I find works best for me is breaking my workout down into two parts. I do my lifting in the morning when’s kids are relaxing and still waking up because once they get their energy forget it! The second part is cardio. I do this when my 2-year-old goes down for a nap, while my 5 year old is present and does his ABC mouse on the Ipad. My goal is 20 min weights 30 min cardio.

2. Visualize: We all have days when we just don’t want to workout. My motivation is simply how I feel after I’ve completed a good, solid workout.  It’s that amazing feeling I love!

3. Have a plan: I am one of those “people with a plan”. I find that if you set certain tasks for each day you’re less overwhelmed and still have time for a kick ass workout!

4. Be Inspired: My inspiration is my family. My children make me want to be young and free again. I want to be that mom who can run with my kids until to sun goes down and just play and be goofy.

5. Make it a group effort: We are all very healthy and active. My kids do in fact participate in my husbands and my workouts.  There is obviously no weight lifting for the kids, but we make exercise a part of our family routine.
